Jude Simpson – Poet, wordsmith, performer
Here’s me with James Cary – BBC sitcom writer (Miranda, Think the Unthinkable, Bluestone 42), occasional preacher (Christian) and author of “The Sacred Art of Joking.”
In this episode of James’ excellent podcast, we discuss the bible story where Jesus meets a woman at a well, challenges her, gets challenged, and ends up changing her life. One of the central premises James brings up is that if you don’t think Jesus ever used humour, then you will never fully understand what he said. I think he’s right about that.
It was a brilliant chance to have another look at this story of Jesus upending expectations, and it was a fun, enthusiastic, free-ranging conversation. The book is pretty good too!!
